JULY 4TH AT MBC

How did a small church picnic become a celebration that now welcomes thousands? Only God could write a story like this.

Almost 15 years ago, our church learned that a neighboring church was selling fireworks to help fund mission trips. We decided to buy a few fireworks, grill some chicken, make some homemade ice cream, gather for a church family picnic, and enjoy an evening together.

We never imagined what God had in store.

Year after year, more people stopped to watch the fireworks. Families lingered to visit. Friends invited friends. As the crowd grew, God moved the hearts of generous people who wanted to be part of it. Sponsors stepped in, donations were given, musicians joined us, and the fireworks show continued to grow.

Then came 2020. Like many events, we weren't sure if we would even be able to gather because of social distancing restrictions. But God made a way. We purchased an FM transmitter so families could safely enjoy the music and program from their vehicles, and the tradition continued.

Today, what began as a simple church family picnic has become an event that welcomes thousands from across East Texas.

We don't see that as our accomplishment—we see it as God's faithfulness.

Our prayer has always been that this event would be more than fireworks. We want to provide a safe, fun, FREE, family-friendly place where our community can gather, celebrate the freedoms so many have sacrificed to protect, and most importantly, hear about the One who offers true freedom.

At Montalba Baptist Church, our desire is to be a family of believers, rooted in the Word, reaching the world. We pray this celebration reflects that mission and points people to Jesus Christ.

A heartfelt thank you to this year's sponsors (July 2026):

We hope you'll join us on Saturday, July 4th as we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday together! Music starts at 7pm. Fireworks begin at dark. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ†
